  • LA PESTE by Marco Palumbo-Rodrigues and Jorden Haley

La Peste is a collaborative book of images by BIRD OV PREY (Jorden Haley) and VACANT STATE (Marco Palumbo-Rodrigues), both represented in their signature stark black and white graphic style.

Each artist has contributed a total of 50 images, alternating throughout the book. Perfectly complementing one other, the works are a mix of occult / punk / anti-authoritarian / fetishistic themes (and overall often with a touch of dark humor).

Although containing no narrative, the images flow from one page to the next for a seamless graphic journey and are preceded by a forward by the esteemed Alex Virji.

The book itself is an A5 (148mm x 210mm or approx. 6” x 8” ) sized black fabric textured hardcover with black stamping on the front, back and spine. The interior pages are black and white printed graphics on luxe matte stock.

  • The Black Seas of Infinity by Dan Henk

Visions of pulp era superheros fill his thoughts. Choosing a career in advanced physics, he dreams big. But harsh reality cuts in as he grows, and he ends up accepting a job building surveillance drones for the military. Little does he know, this is only a probative period, and he is soon moved into the clandestine world of investigating crashed alien craft. A dream come true, he's fascinated beyond his wildest imagining. His lack of social skills eventually gets him fired, but he's seen too much.

A year later he returns, and pulls off a bloody heist. The military in hot pursuit, he makes a mad scramble up the coast. Only the world has grown strange. Businesses are closed. Highways deserted. As the world falls apart about him, he soon finds that trigger happy locals and brutal militias aren't the worst of his problems. Death, madness, and the return of creatures from another world all await. At 18, Dan was kicked out of the house. He spent the next 8 months homeless, often sleeping in the woods. Finally getting a steady job and a place to live, a friend flipped his old car and he went through the windshield.

After a two week recovery, he moved, out of necessity, from Northern Virginia to downtown Washington DC.

A year and a half later, a crack head broke into his house, and the resulting knife fight severed the tendon on his left hand. After surgery and yet another move, he finally attended art school. His work made it into galleries, political cartoons for Madcap Magazine, covers for Maximum Rock and Roll, and numerous t-shirts and ads. Leaving art school early, at the advice of a teacher, he headed to NYC to pursue a career in art. Two interviews with DC Comics made him realize they paid very little, and only wanted superheroes.

At the urging of a tattoo artist, he went into the field. He's now been tattooing 11 years, and has been featured in a slew of books, magazines, newspapers, and on TV in the US and Europe, both for his tattoo work, and for his more traditional artwork.

Tattooing has been very generous. Life, not so much. He had brain cancer in 2001, and was in Bellevue Hospital, recuperating in ICU, when the twin towers went down.

Seven years later, his wife died in a hit and run. But his motto is that life is what you make of it. He's always written, producing full novels (that he's sure were horrible) by the 5th grade, and taking numerous creative writing classes. He's put out quite a few articles over the years, and THE BLACK SEAS OF INFINITY is his first novel, published by Anarchy Books in 2011. Already hard at work on a collection of short stories, he hopes to have a new book out sometime next year.
